Description

Bishop Mills is a four-storey and attic flour mill, built in 1839 and reconstructed around 1853, located beside the River Kelvin on Old Dumbarton Road in Glasgow. The building features coursed rubble with freestone dressings and has a layout of ten by two bays. Architectural details include moulded stone eaves, long and short quoins with slender pilaster treatment, and plain architraves. There are unfortunate flying stairs leading to the first-floor entrances. The roof is covered with blue slate and has later brick dividers, while gable corn sheaf finials sit on dentil corniced pedestals.
