12 Kelvingrove Street, Glasgow

This building, located at 16, 18, and 20 Kelvingrove Street in Glasgow, dates from around 1854 and is a four-storey classical tenement featuring five by sixteen bays. The ground floor includes shops arranged in five by eight bays, with some original features still intact. The bays on Kelvingrove Street are arranged in an eight by eight pattern and step down the slope of the street. The structure is made of ashlar stone, with channelled detailing and flat voussoirs at No 4 Kelvingrove Street.

At No 12 Kelvingrove Street, there is a pilastered and corniced close entry. The windows are primarily sash and case style with 12-pane glazing, although the first floor has been altered to include leaded T-pane casements in a five by three corner section at the northern end of Kelvingrove Street. The ground floor features a fascia and a cornice above the pilastered shop at the north end.

The first floor has a cill band and corniced windows set within lugged architraves, while the second floor windows also have lugged architraves and a cill band. The third floor features recessed margins and a cill band. The building has an eaves cornice and a parapet, along with corniced axial stacks and a slate roof.
