6 Bowmont Gardens, Glasgow

4 Bowmont Gardens in Glasgow is a terrace of seven houses built around 1880. The terrace has two bays and is designed without decorative columns. The original steps have been removed, and the doorways have been changed to tripartite windows in all houses except for numbers 1 and 7. The exterior is finished in polished ashlar and the buildings rise three storeys with attics and basements.

For numbers 1 and 7, the steps lead down to a doorpiece that features an architraved tripartite design with a cornice, double-leaf panelled storm doors, and glazed sidelights. All windows are framed in architraves and have pediments at the first floor. Numbers 2 and 6 include tripartite windows on the ground, first, and second floors. There are full-height canted bay windows on the left side, corniced over each floor. The windows are sash with plate glass glazing. A continuous cornice runs above the ground floor, and there is a string course at the second floor sills. The eaves have a plain cornice, and there are axial corniced stacks on slate roofs.

The northeast flank features a stepped three-bay elevation with separate mansard roofs, maintaining similar detailing over three storeys. The rear elevation is made of coursed stugged ashlar and includes modern roof lights.

At number 3, there is a projecting square bay at the first floor, supported by ashlar piers that rise from the basement. A platt at the ground level provides access to the door, while the first floor window is a round-arched tripartite design.

Elegant cast-iron railings are present at the steps and basement, although some are modern replacements.
