Description
The Buchanan Bridge Club, located at 4 Clairmont Gardens in Glasgow, is an impressive building with significant architectural features. The first floor boasts a large drawing room that showcases high-quality plasterwork and marble chimneypieces, complete with cast iron grates. A massive carved mirror is positioned above the mantel, adding to the room's grandeur.
Inside, there is a domed, columned vestibule featuring a patterned and figurative encaustic tiled pavement. The main staircase is adorned with full-height mirror florid cast-iron balustrading and is illuminated by a corniced skylight above. The newel posts, which originally had urns, are mostly missing. The ground floor rooms are also notable for their elaborate marble fireplaces and intricate plasterwork.
