Description
The Old Tollhouse, located on Main Street in Newton of Falkland, dates largely from 1874, although it has earlier origins in the early 19th century. It is a single-storey building in an L-shaped plan, featuring a porch set into an angle. A ball finial sits atop the gable, and the date “1874” is inscribed at the apex. Behind the tollhouse are the remnants of what may have been a doocot (pigeon house), now arranged as a rock garden. The porch has been removed, and a new doorway was created before 1983. Historic Environment Scotland references the doocot remains as Inv 240.
