Gatepiers, South Fod House

South Fod House is a late 18th century, two-storey building with a basement and attic, featuring a rectangular plan. The exterior is harled, with ashlar surrounds to the windows, quoins, an eaves course, corniced eaves, and a band course at the basement.

On the south elevation, steps lead up to a central entrance with a panelled timber door and a two-pane fanlight, framed by a pilastered and pedimented doorpiece. There are two basement windows, two ground floor windows flanking the door, and three first floor windows centered above.

The west elevation has a central ground floor window and a first floor window to the left of center. The north elevation features a piended porch to the left of center, a window in the north elevation, and a modern timber door in the right return. There are two ground floor windows flanking the porch, one first floor window centered above, and basement windows centered below. A central stair window is present, with a pedimented first floor/attic window above.

The east elevation has small, central ground and first floor windows, along with a central basement door. The windows throughout are 12-pane timber sash and case with horns. There are two piended, four-pane dormer attic windows located wholly in the roof at the front, and a central small rooflight. The pitched slate roof features raised flat-head ashlar skews, coped gable end stacks, and circular cans.

Inside, there is an inner porch with a panelled and glazed inner door, flanked by glazed panels with pilasters and an elliptical fanlight above the doorpiece, featuring decorative glass. An arched opening leads into the hallway, which has corniced pilasters and decorative plaster. The interior includes panelled doors, plain cornicing, and skirting. An open winding stair is located to the right, while a panelled door to the left leads to a winding stair to the basement.

To the south of the house, there are a pair of gatepiers made of rusticated ashlar, with corniced tops and pyramidal coping stones. Decorative metal gates connect the gatepiers to a low stone quadrant wall topped with decorative railings. There is also a single gatepier on the west driveway, featuring vermiculated rustication and a pyramidal ashlar coping stone.
