Ancillary Building, 1 Bonfield Road, Strathkinness

1 Bonfield Road in Strathkinness is a two-storey former Youth House built in 1909, designed in the Arts and Crafts style. The building is harled with predominantly ashlar sandstone dressings and features a base course and some hoodmoulds.

On the north elevation, there is an off-centre wide round-arched doorway with a keystone and voussoirs. To the right, a two-bay section has a flat-roofed dormer above it. The far right showcases an advanced two-bay gable with a datestone from 1909. To the left, there is an advanced canted implied tower that breaks the eaves, and a single bay section is located on the outer left.

The south elevation features a large advanced single bay canted shaped gable with ball finials. It has a six-light window on the ground floor and a tripartite window above. To the right, there is a three-bay section that now includes a central French window, with a pair of flat-roofed dormers above.

The west elevation is dominated by the advanced canted implied tower that breaks the eaves, with a doorway located in the re-entrant angle.

The east elevation is nearly blank, with modern windows and predominantly modern roof tiles. There are large stacks on the north gable and south elevation, with a smaller stack at the apex of the east gable.

The interior has been almost entirely modernized due to fire damage.

An ancillary structure to the northeast consists of a single-storey canted tower featuring a tripartite window and a lower piended roof section to the north. The tower has a red tile roof, while the lower section is covered with pantiles.

To the north, there are gate piers and a boundary wall made of roughly squared and snecked sandstone with flat coping. This includes a tall, deep round-arched pedestrian gateway with a timber two-leaf shaped gate that forms a circle with an arch above. To the far west, there is a square pier topped with a ball finial, while to the east, there are low square harled gate piers.
