Description
The Memorial to Five Covenanters, located at Magus Muir, was built in 1877 by John Whyte-Melville and restored in the late 20th century. It features an inscribed upright stone slab with a double-sequential head, set within a rectangular enclosure that has parapet walls, a rusticated cope, and cast-iron railings. The inscription commemorates Thomas Brown, James Wood, Andrew Sword, John Weddell, and John Clyde, who were martyred on Magus Muir for their commitment to the Word of God and Scotland's Covenanted work of Reformation.
Additionally, the Archbishop Sharp Memorial, also constructed in 1877 by John Whyte-Melville and restored in the late 20th century, consists of a rubble pyramidal monument with an inset granite rectangular tablet that features a Latin inscription in relief letters.
