West Pavilion Ward, Cameron Hospital, Windygates

The Centre Pavilion Ward at Cameron Hospital in Windygates, designed by W D Telfer in 1911, consists of four single-storey pavilions that served as infectious diseases wards. The buildings feature a combination of harl and red brick, with a deep brick base course.

The Centre Pavilion has a symmetrical east elevation, featuring a ramp leading up to a flat-roofed porch that has a part-glazed door at the center, set within a stepped, brick-margined doorway below an eroded panel. This is flanked by advanced bays with narrow windows, and further narrow windows on the returns. The gablehead has a recessed face with an arrow slit at the center, with higher pavilions on either side, each containing a narrow window and bellcast roofs. The north and south elevations each have two narrow windows. The west elevation has a slightly advanced lower center gable with a window, a window in the bay to the right, and a window and door to the left. Each window is flanked by single, horizontally aligned red bricks that have been painted over.

The north pavilion has a symmetrical south elevation, with a center bay similar to the Centre Pavilion, featuring a door with porthole windows at the top. The flanking bays have three windows each, and the lower outer bays each contain a window toward the center. The north elevation includes a basement, with a center gable that has a window below a decorative red brick relieving arch, and the outer bays mirror those of the south elevation.

The south pavilion is a mirror image of the north pavilion. The west pavilion's east elevation features a center gable and the roofs of the flanking pavilions are visible above a full-width modern flat-roofed extension. The west elevation details are similar to the north pavilion but include four windows in the flanking pavilions.

The windows have top-opening plate glass glazing in timber and metal frames. The roofs are covered with red tiles, and the boarded timber overhanging eaves are supported by decorative brackets. There are cast-iron downpipes and dated, decorative rainwater hoppers.

Lodges 2 and 3 are pavilion-style outbuildings made of harl and brick. Lodge 3 is a small, finial-topped outbuilding located next to the other pavilions. Lodge 2 is a larger outbuilding to the southeast, which may have originally served as a lodge house or nurses' quarters. It features a bow window on the south corner and includes a variety of architectural elements such as a tripartite door, a bipartite window, and decorative brick detailing on the harled stacks.
