Description

The drinking fountain at Toll Green was made by George Smith and Co of Glasgow for Sun Foundry and is dated 1869. It features an ornately moulded cast-iron pillar design. The fountain has an octagonal roll moulded base and an octagonal shaft, which displays decorative thistle and scroll details on alternating faces, topped with an ogee-dome cap. A single column rises from the cap, showcasing an intricate floral motif on the shaft, which is surmounted by a foliated capital and an open-work orb finial.
