Description
The Halbeath Tramway Bridge in Inverkeithing, designed by Mr. Peddie in 1829, features double spans with a segmental arch over the Keithing Burn and a round arch over the former Halbeath Waggon Way. The bridge is constructed from square sandstone rubble with dressed voussoirs. An additional square span made of square bull-faced sandstone rubble was added to the west in 1877 to cross the Dunfermline & Queensferry Railway line, with further alterations made in 1890 for the Forth Bridge Railway. The bridge has random rubble end wings. In the late 20th century, the upper roadway was widened, incorporating overhanging concrete eaves and trusses, along with steel reinforcement fixing-rods.
