Description
Kinloch is a simple late Georgian building dating from around 1820. It is a two-storey structure with an attic, featuring a south-facing front made of whinstone rubble with galletting and droved freestone dressings. The design includes an eaves band, pilaster strips, skew gables, and a slate roof with splayed wooden and slated dormers. The façade is three windows wide, with raised margins and a cornice above the doorway, which has a gothic panelled fanlight.
Inside, there is a fine wood and glazed screen in the entrance hall, complemented by a segmental fanlight, pilasters, and sidelights. A turnpike stair is located at the rear of the hall. The main rooms and hall are adorned with acanthus cornices and roses, while the first floor features elaborate carved mantelpieces, one decorated with Baroque-type trophies and another with turtle-doves.
Attached to the right of the front is a single-storey office block made of whinstone and freestone. This block has five windows with an advanced centre and ends, plain parapets, and plain window treatment, with round-headed windows only in the centre. The east flank elevation includes an arched courtyard entry.
