Rothes Vault, Churchyard, Christ's Kirk On The Green, Greenside, Leslie

The Rothes Vault, located in the churchyard of Christ's Kirk On The Green in Greenside, Leslie, consists of a pair of linked burial vaults with steep crowstepped gables. These vaults feature early 19th century facades, likely dating from around 1821 when the medieval church on this site was demolished, and they incorporate earlier materials. The structure is built from coursed whinstone with ashlar dressings, crowsteps, beak skewputts, and a base course. The openings have deeply chamfered margins.

On the south elevation, each gable has a centrally located boarded door, with blocked pointed arch lights in the flanking bays and at the gablehead, along with an additional light in the roofless link section. The stone door case and lintel create a link to the rear.

To the east is the 17th century Rothes family vault, which was part of the aisle of the medieval church. This vault is constructed from random whinstone rubble and features graded grey slates, with a blinded opening that has a relieving arch in the gable end. A memorial stone for Norman Evelyn Leslie, who died in 1927, is set into the east elevation.

To the west is the 19th century Douglas family vault, made from squared and snecked whinstone and also covered with graded grey slates.
