Description
The Rustic Bridge at Valleyfield Wood, built around 1800-1804, was designed to carry a carriage drive as part of Humphrey Repton's landscape design. This picturesque footbridge features a single arch that spans the Bluther Burn. It is constructed with cyclopean "rustic" masonry, using voussoirs made from volcanic rock. Some masonry blocks have become dislodged and are now in the burn, as noted in 1992.
