Description
Earlier 19th century with later additions. 2-storey and attic; 3-bay; rectangular-plan main block with earlier 20th century single storey wing to W and single storey additions to rear (N). Detached villa. Classical design with open porch comprising entablature supported on Tuscan columns to principal (S) elevation. Droved sandstone ashlar painted cream to principal and E elevations of main block; coursed sandstone rubble to N and W elevations; polished ashlar dressings. Droved sandstone ashlar to principal (S) elevation of W wing; other sides and N additions largely harled; polished ashlar dressings. Base course to principal elevation of main block and W wing and to E elevation. Eaves cornice to main block and eaves band to principal elevation of W wing. Consoled cornices to ground floor windows to principal elevation of main block. Coped gables where in existence.
S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: central entrance to main block; open porch comprising entablature supported on 2 pairs of Tuscan columns; matching pilasters to either side of doorway; panelled timber door with decoratively glazed rectangular fanlight. Flanking windows to ground and 1st floors and one above. Later pair of closely spaced piended dormers to roof. Single storey wing set back slightly to left. 3-light mullioned window to left of centre; window to left and 2 to right.
E ELEVATION: 3 regularly disposed windows to ground floor to main block; same arrangement to 1st floor but with outer windows blocked. Boundary wall projects forward slightly to right; single storey extensions behind.
N ELEVATION: irregular fenestration to main block. Stair window to right of centre; window to right to ground floor; flanking outer windows to 1st floor. Single storey extensions project forward to left and right.
W ELEVATION: Single storey wing projects forward; blank gable to right.
Mainly 12-pane timber sash and case windows to main block and W wing. Grey slate roofs; mainly piended apart from to main axis of W wing. Pair of ashlar wallhead stacks with band courses to either side (E and W) of main block; 2nd wallhead stack added to W; corniced ashlar gablehead stack to W wing; circular/octagonal stacks.
INTERIOR: not inspected (1998). Appears to retain original staircase with cast-iron balustrade.
