Description
Craigfoodie is a building from the later 18th century, with early 19th century additions. It features a rectangular gabled block that is two storeys high and raised over a basement, displaying a symmetrical, four-bay south garden front. The structure has been altered and extended significantly to the north in the early 19th century. The exterior is harled with painted margins.
The west elevation, which serves as the entrance, has an off-centre pedimented porch supported by two Roman Doric columns, with a single window above. To the left, there are two advanced, bowed bays, and to the right, the 18th century block has single windows in the gable, along with an attic oculus. The ground and first floor windows typically have 12 and 9 panes, respectively, with some being blind. The gabled block features an eaves course and corniced end stacks, and the roofs are covered with slate.
Inside, the thickness of some internal walls suggests that older materials are incorporated into the structure, and there is some decorative plasterwork. The garden walls are built of rubble, with a single square, finialed pier connected to the house by cast iron railings. There is also some terrace walling that includes a ruined lectern dovecot.
