Description
The stables and steading at Grangemuir House date from the earlier 19th century, with a south front added to the late 18th or early 19th century stables. The building consists of four ranges that form a courtyard, which is now roofed over and entered at the east end of the north front.
The south range is two stories high and has eight bays, constructed from whin rubble with droved freestone dressings. It features a loft door in a gabled projection that is off-centre to the west, with the end bays slightly advanced. The roof is piended and slated.
The north and west ranges are also two stories and made of rubble with droved dressings, topped with a piended pantiled roof that has a slated easing course. The west range includes segmental-arched cart-sheds.
The east range is similar but is a single story and features a large rectangular dovecot at the center, which rises above the ridge. There are flight holes under the eaves to the south and in the south side of a timber lantern at the apex of the piended pantiled roof, and stone nesting boxes still survive.
