Description

The building is a stable and cottage complex designed by Tait and Wilson around 1910. It is a single-storey structure with an attic, featuring stables, a hayloft, and a garage, all enclosed by a boundary wall to the south and accompanied by lean-to outbuildings. The exterior is harled, with boarded doors throughout and swept eaves.

The cottage has three symmetrical bays, with a taller gabled bay in the center that includes a roll-moulded architrave around the doorpiece and a two-leaf door. Above this door is a window in the gablehead. There are paired windows on either side of the central bay, each topped with tripartite piended dormers. A piended porch is located on the right side, in the re-entrant angle between the cottage and the stables.

The cottage features sash and case windows on the ground floor, with four-pane upper sashes and plate glass on the lower sashes. The attic has four-pane casement windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and has harled end stacks.

The stables, hayloft, and garages consist of a five-bay stable block that is recessed to the right (east) of the cottage. The central entrance has a two-leaf fanlit door with sidelights, while a wider two-leaf sliding door is located to the right, and another fanlit door is positioned to the outer right. There is a bipartite casement window to the left and a single window to the outer left. Above the bipartite window, a gabled loading door breaks the eaves, and there is a rooflight at the far right.

The garages consist of a lower L-plan garage and store block that is also recessed to the right, featuring four wide sliding doors, each with a six-pane glazed panel and vent. The roof is similarly covered with grey slate.
