Description
The dovecot in Huntington dates from around 1750 and is a two-stage classical square structure. It is harled, featuring ashlar or moulded margins and quoins, with an ashlar frontispiece on the first floor. The ground floor has a base course and is topped by a band course with a cornice on the south side. There is a central doorway on the south with a simple architrave, where a modern door has been inserted for safety. The east and west sides have blind windows, while the north elevation includes three blind doorways.
The first floor is pilastered and pedimented at the front, featuring a central moulded and arched blind window. The pediment has flight holes and is topped with three urn finials. Similar blind windows are present in the other openings, including a main boarded door on the east side. A cornice runs at eaves level on three sides, with a band course at the rear. The roof is pitched, gabled, and slated, with a pediment forming the skew on the south and a plain skew on the north, which is topped by a carved vase-shaped stone chimneystack. The interior is largely derelict, but some nestboxes remain.
