Description
21 High Street in Cockenzie is likely an 18th-century house that has been significantly modernised. It features a three-bay design with two storeys plus a loft. The walls are made of rubble, harled and painted, with smooth margins.
On the north elevation, there is an off-centred door with a plain fanlight, flanked by a window on the right and a projecting lean-to with a small window on the left. Above, there are two windows in the outer bays.
The south elevation has a central projecting access stair with two shed doors, and a window to the right at ground floor. There is an off-centre door at the first floor, flanked by two small windows on the right and one small window on the left.
The west elevation features a gable with a projecting lean-to shed, a door on the north side, and a single small window in the gablehead. The east gable is blank.
The windows vary, with four-pane sash and case windows on the ground floor, while most others are modern single panes. There are also two Velux windows at the front. The roof is covered with modern pantiles, has plain skews, and small gable stacks with plain pots.
