Description
86 High Street in Musselburgh is an earlier 19th century, three-storey tenement building that features shops on the ground floor. It has four windows on both the front and rear facades. The street-facing side is constructed of ashlar stone, while the rear is made of rubble. The building has a slate roof that is piended at the Kilwinning Street end, with a wide central stack. There is a band course and a cill string course on the first floor, along with a cornice and a blocking course. Modern shop fronts extend up to and partially over the band course. At the rear, there is a flat-roofed turnpike stair tower located at the second bay from the right. The rear windows are six-pane sash, while the other windows have been reglazed with single-pane sash.
