Description

The chimney at Prestongrange Colliery is a later 19th-century structure. It is a single-storey, 12-bay, rectangular-plan, red brick, 24-chamber 'continuous' Hoffman kiln. The walls are battered and feature hoodmoulded round-arched openings, which include paired doors and kiln openings. The roof is flat. Adjacent to the south is a freestanding 16-stage brick chimney, which has string courses dividing the stages and a cornice at the top.
