5 Lochhouses Farm Cottages, Lochhouses

2 Lochhouses Farm Cottages is a group of cottages built in the mid to late 19th century. They consist of two single-storey symmetrical rows, each containing three cottages with three bays. The cottages are constructed from rubble whinstone and feature droved cream ashlar dressings.

On the south elevation, each cottage has a consoled pentice canopy above the central door, flanked by windows. The doors are panelled with small-pane upper panels. Cottages 1 and 2 have been merged into one, with the former doorway to number 2 now disused and window shutters added.

The north elevation features harled, flat-roofed outbuildings that were added in the late 19th century. The end gables are blank, and the south-facing cottages have sash and case windows with a small-pane glazing pattern, while the rear extensions display a variety of glazing. The gable ends are harled, and there are mutual gable stacks. The roofs are covered with grey slates, and there are regular small skylights.
