Description

The icehouse at Amisfield Park dates from the later 18th century and is a square, single-storey structure with a domed roof located by the River Tyne. It is built from random conglomerate rubble. The main chamber, which is oblong and features a groin vault, is situated to the south and has an internal door leading to a narrow chamber to the north. The floor is made of flagstones supported by massive stone joists.
