Description
This building at 444 Perth Road in Dundee is a symmetrical semi-detached house dating from 1871. It is two stories tall with a basement and features three bays. The exterior is constructed of ashlar stone with polished dressings and quoins.
On the south elevation, the outer bay is canted at the ground floor, showcasing Tudor arched lights and bracketed eaves. The inner bay has a three-light shallow projection with round-headed windows, keystones, and a cornice. An unusual cast-iron open-worked balcony connects both bays, although the one at No. 446 has been altered. The first floor has three segmental-headed windows with architraves, and there are bracketed eaves above. A central wallhead stack is present, along with two canted dormers on No. 444.
The side elevation features similar segmental-arched windows, with doorpieces that are consoled and pedimented, accessed by steps. The rear elevation facing Perth Road is plain, with two windows on either side of a round-headed stair window, and includes a one-storey service wing.
