Description
67-71 High Street in Annan is a late 19th-century, three-storey and attic corner shop featuring Renaissance details. The building has two large wallhead gables on each elevation and a weak corner turret topped with a leaded bell-cast roof, which was originally supported by columns and has a small cupola above. The ground floor has been modernized, while the upper sections are finished in polished red ashlar, accented with horizontal bands and vertical strips. There are four regular bays facing Bank Street and five bays on High Street, with pedimented first-floor windows set within gabled bays. The original mansard roof includes rooflights, and each gable head is adorned with a cartouche and flanking finials, topped by a small pediment. The building features end stacks, and the roofs are mainly slated.
