Description
Dated 1736, St Crispins is a two-storey, irregular four-bay house situated in Crispin Street, Creetown. The house has smooth cement walling with raised, painted margins around the window and door openings. The front facade has remained largely unaltered, featuring a central doorway with a modern door and a timber canopy porch. To the left of the doorway are two ground-floor windows, and one first-floor window. To the right are one window on each floor. All windows are single-light, sash and case with plate glass glazing. The roof is covered with graded slate, and features hefty coped end stacks with thackstanes, as well as a sandstone ridge. A datestone inscribed with “1736” sits above the doorway.
The rear of the house features some windows that have been enlarged to create bipartites, a two-storey gabled cement-rendered extension dating from the 19th century, and graded slate roofs. Cast-iron rainwater goods are present throughout.
