Description
Palmersgill Lodge is an earlier 19th century single-storey lodge that is attractively located above the river bank. It features a modern addition to the east and has gatepiers and quadrants dating from around 1880. The lodge is constructed from rubble with ashlar dressings. It has a basement on the south side, an octagonal bay to the southwest, and round-headed openings on the ground floor. The building has broad eaves and a central stack with three bull-faced flues. The modern addition has an advanced gable facing the driveway and a basket-arched recessed door to the right. The roofs are slate, with a facetted design over the octagonal section.
The gateway consists of four square gatepiers that are corniced and topped with ball finials, with the two gatepiers flanking the driveway being taller. It includes decorative cast-iron gates and long quadrants with iron railings. The southernmost wall curves to the south and is linked to a bridge.
