Description
12 Castle Street in Dumfries is an early 19th-century building that stands three storeys high and features three bays. The ground floor has a neo-Edwardian shop front, which was added around 1983, and includes a possibly re-used apothecary's sign. The exterior is finished in painted droved ashlar with projecting cills. The building has sash windows that display a 12-pane glazing pattern, along with a cornice and a blocking course. There is a dormer with casements, and the straight skews are raised over the south gable, which is faced with bull-faced red ashlar, indicating where a taller building once adjoined.
