Description

16th century L-plan tower house consisting of a rectangular

main block with narrow projecting jamb to NE. Described as

'ruinous' in 1789. Heavily restored and harled in early 20th

century and upper courses rebuilt, modern roof.

Rough-rubble construction; walls some 4' thick. Full height

stair turret corbelled from above ground level in re-entrant

angle. 2 ground floor entrances to cellars, round-arched with checked-back jambs that to main block vaulted.

No access from ground to 1st floor. External forestair with

concrete parapet to modern square-headed doorway constructed

from window in S wall. Internal arrangements altered.

Roll-moulded window to 1st floor of jamb, otherwise 20th

century enlarged windows with concrete jambs. To NW angle of

main block cut-back remains of corbelling from angle turret.

Slate roofs, wallhead corniced stacks.
