Description
6 St Patrick Street in Edinburgh is a corner tenement building designed by William Archibald around 1780. It has four storeys and an attic, featuring a layout of four bays by six bays, with a two-bay nepus gable on the north elevation. The ground floor includes a 20th-century shop front. The building is constructed from coursed Hailes sandstone, accented with polished ashlar dressings.
On the west elevation facing St Patrick's Street, there are 19th-century consoled cornices and architraves at the first floor. The windows are regularly spaced, with projecting cills and raised tabbed margins. The corners of the building are marked by rusticated long and short quoins. The west elevation also features a pair of dormers.
The windows are timber sash and case with 12-pane glazing. The building has gablehead and ridge stacks with clay cans, and it is topped with a grey slate roof.
