Description
15, 17, 19 and 21 Niddry Street in Edinburgh is a Classical tenement building, possibly designed by Robert Kay around 1790. It stands four stories tall and features seven bays, with shops that have been altered at the ground level. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and includes a base course, cill courses, and raised cills on the second storey. The upper storeys have raised long and short quoins.
The entrance is off-centre and features a narrow round-arched roll-moulded design, with a door that has a fanlight above it. To the left, there is a shop front with fluted timber pilasters and panelled stall risers, along with a recessed entrance doorway. The upper storeys predominantly have plate glass timber sash and case windows, while the ground floor has plate glass windows. There is also access to vaults located below street level.
