Description

James Gowans, circa 1863; later additions and alterations. Single storey, cruciform-plan lodge in idiosyncratic Gowans style. Cyclopean rubble sandstone with contrasting raised banding and dressings (stick style). Overhanging timber eaves; cill course; long and short dressings.

NE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 3-bay with lean-to wings recessed to outer left and right; decorative stone brackets to chamfered angles.

NW ELEVATION: cat-slide lean-to to centre.

SE ELEVATION: advanced flat-roof wing and addition.

INTERIOR: not seen 1995.

All openings bricked up (formerly lying-pane glazing). Shallow pitch grey slate piended roof (lead flashings removed); banded and corniced ridge stack.
