21-25 Lauriston Place, Edinburgh

27-35 Lauriston Place is a plain classical terrace building dating from around 1820. It consists of four storeys and a basement, featuring an engaged circular tower on the eastern side. The exterior is finished in droved ashlar, which is channelled at the ground level and droved at the basement, while the rear is constructed of rubble. The building has stone steps and platforms that cover the basement areas. There are dividing bands between the basement and ground floors, as well as between the ground and first floors, along with cill courses at the first and third floors and an eaves cornice. The facade is regularly fenestrated, with three windows on each floor of the tower. The doors are timber panelled and have umbrella fanlights above them.

The windows are timber sash and case with 12-pane glazing. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are corniced stacks with circular cans at the ridges.

The boundary wall features spear-headed cast-iron railings that enclose the basement areas, with the steps mounted on low stone-coped boundary walls.
