Description

Thomas Bonnar, 1820. 4-storey and basement, 9-bay terraced tenement. Broached ashlar sandstone; V-jointed rustication at principal floor. Band course at principal and 1st floors; projecting cills to 1st floor windows; cill course and continual cornice at 2nd floor; cornice and blocking course at 3rd floor. Ashlar steps and entrance platts oversailing basement.

W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 4-panel timber common stair door with decorative rectangular fanlight, centred at principal floor; 4-panel timber doors with decorative rectangular fanlights in penultimate bays to left and right. Windows in remaining bays at principal floor; regular fenestration to floors above, and to basement.

N ELEVATION: adjoining terrace, see separate listing (1-12 Fettes Row).

S ELEVATION: adjoining terrace, see separate listing (79-85 Dundas Street).

Predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate M-roof. Cast-iron rainwater goods. Broached ashlar ridge and gablehead stacks; coped, with circular cans.

INTERIORS: not seen, 1997, but some evidence of working panelled shutters.

RAILINGS: ashlar copes surmounted by iron railings with fleur-de-lis balusters and decorative finials.
