87, 89, 91, 93, 95, 97, 97A Dundas Street, Edinburgh

This building, located at 87, 89, 91, 93, 95, 97, and 97A Dundas Street in Edinburgh, was designed by Thomas Bonnar in 1820. It is a four-storey and basement, nine-bay terraced tenement constructed from broached ashlar sandstone. The principal floor features V-jointed rustication, a band course at both the principal and first floors, projecting cills for the first-floor windows, a cill course, and a continual cornice at the second floor, along with a cornice and blocking course at the third floor. The entrance has ashlar steps and platts that oversail the basement.

On the west elevation, there is a centrally located four-panel timber common stair door with a decorative rectangular fanlight. To the left and right are four-panel timber doors with similar fanlights in the penultimate bays. The remaining bays on the principal floor contain windows, while the upper floors and basement feature regular fenestration.

The north elevation adjoins another terrace, which is listed separately (1-12 Fettes Row), and the south elevation also adjoins a terrace that is listed separately (79-85 Dundas Street).

The building predominantly has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, a grey slate M-roof, and cast-iron rainwater goods. The ridge and gablehead stacks are made of broached ashlar and are coped with circular cans.

The interiors were not seen in 1997, but there is some evidence of working panelled shutters. The railings consist of ashlar copes topped with iron railings featuring fleur-de-lis balusters and decorative finials.
