Description

70, 72, and 74 Trinity Road, along with the gatepiers, is a classical house built around 1790, featuring many later alterations and additions. The building is two stories high and includes an irregularly fenestrated four-stage tower from the 19th century, topped with a balustraded roof. The exterior is finished in cream-painted ashlar and grey harl, with ashlar dressings on the tower. It has corniced eaves and a blocking course, adorned with urns and lead herons along the eaves.

On the south elevation, there is a piend-roofed two-story three-light bowed bay on the right and a piend-roofed advanced bay on the left, which includes a single-story balustraded three-light bay at the ground floor and a tripartite window above. To the left, a later extension features two three-light jerkin-headed dormers.

The east elevation has a bowed bay from the original house, which is obscured by a later conservatory and other additions. The north elevation includes a two-story extension that forms an approximate T-plan with the original house, abutting the tower. There is a windowless bowed bay at the junction, and a piend-roofed bowed bay to the right is obscured by a later ground extension.

The windows are a mix of small-pane glazing and plate glass in timber sash and case frames. The roof is covered with grey slates, and the original house has corniced polygonal chimney stacks with circular cans, while the remaining stacks are corniced with circular cans.

The boundary wall is a high ashlar-coped rubble wall, featuring a coursed ashlar gateway with four corniced and platformed gatepiers, and a pedestrian gate to the right.
