Description
East Lodge and Gateway at Islay House is a single-storey building designed in a Scottish style, attributed to architect William Playfair and dating from 1845. The lodge is constructed of stugged ashlar and features a gabled slate roof, moulded chimneys, and crow-steps. The main entrance has a moulded doorway with an ornamental inset above that displays the monogram WFC/CIC. There is also a lean-to roofed extension that is gabled towards the road and includes a porch. The gateway is marked by square gate piers, die-walls, and spear railings.
