Description
Torrisdale Castle is an earlier 19th century castellated building designed by J Gillespie Graham. It features two storeys and a basement, constructed from ashlar stone. The roof is covered with piended slate and is topped with a crenellated blocking course. The castle has square moulded chimneys and includes both square and octagonal towers.
The windows are designed in the Gothic style, with lancets and hood-mouldings. Around 1900, two wings in the same architectural style were added to the ends of the building. At the rear, there is a terrace with steps leading down, along with retaining walls that have flat coping, both for the terrace and in front of the castle.
The design is attributed to J Gillespie Graham based on stylistic analysis.
