Description
Kilarrow Parish Church, located in Bowmore on Islay, was built between 1767 and 1769 and is designed in the Georgian style. The church has a circular shape with a conical slate roof and harled exterior.
At the northwest corner, there is an ashlar steeple that consists of an upper part divided into four stages, featuring a domed cap, round-headed louvres, and blank panels. The lower part has a pediment, an inscribed panel, quoins, and a segmental fanlight above the doorway, which is accessed by a forestair.
Inside, there is a central cast-iron pier, and a gallery was added around 1830. The church was re-seated around 1880. Notable features include a sarcophagus belonging to Campbell of Islay and several mural tablets. An organ was installed around 1890.
