Description
Gorton Schoolhouse in Bruichladdich is a single-storey, five-bay schoolhouse built around 1880. The structure is constructed from rubble with ashlar dressings. It features a wide central gabled bay that includes a tripartite window and a blind oculus. There is a porch with a swept roof located in the left re-entrant angle, and the outer bays also have tripartite windows. An additional entrance to the schoolroom is recessed on the right side. The rear elevation is symmetrical with six windows. The building has overhanging eaves, a slate roof, and three stacks positioned behind the well-crafted stone walls.
