Outbuilding, 7 Marine Place, Rothesay, Bute

7 Marine Place is a later 19th century, symmetrical, 2-storey house with an attic, designed in a plain classical style. It has a rectangular plan and features coursed yellow sandstone ashlar. The building includes a raised base course, a corniced string course, and a raised lintel course beneath the corniced eaves. The openings are polished and chamfered, with stone mullions and a decorative cast-iron porch. To the left, there is a rectangular-plan outbuilding made of random rubble sandstone, which has tooled yellow sandstone dressings and timber eaves.

On the entrance elevation, there are steps leading to a centrally located 2-leaf boarded timber door, topped by a bipartite fanlight. The overhanging porch is supported by cast-iron barley-sugar columns on either side of the entrance, with cast-iron spandrel detailing that forms trefoil-headed openings on the left, right, and center. A single window is centered on the first floor, with a round-arched attic window above. The outer bays on both floors feature 3-light canted windows, and there are 3-light canted dormers above.

The windows at the ground and first floors are 2-pane timber sash and case, while the attic has modern glazing. The roof is covered with graded grey slate and has corniced apex stacks at the north and south ends, along with octagonal cans.

The interior was not seen in 1996. The outbuilding on the east elevation has two single boarded timber doors that are offset to the left and right of center. The boundary wall is a low, coped, part-rendered rubble sandstone wall along Marine Place, with a cast-iron pedestrian entry gate.
