Description

The Information Centre located at 4 Clyde Street East in Helensburgh was designed by Charles Wilson in 1846, with a porch added by Robert Wemyss in 1923. The building features snecked red sandstone with cream ashlar dressings.

The west elevation is gabled and consists of three bays, highlighted by an Italianate four-stage tower at the center. This tower has round-arched windows on either side, flanking a single-storey porch made of cream snecked sandstone. The porch is pilastered, topped with a finial, and has a stepped parapet. There is a round-arched window on the west elevation and another on the right side of the porch, with a door on the left side. Above the porch, the second stage of the tower features a round-arched window. Each face of the tower's third stage has a tripartite round-arched louvred window for the belfry, and there are clock faces on each upper storey elevation, topped with a finialled roof. The windows throughout the building have a multi-pane glazing pattern.
