Cottages, Mains Of Glamis

The Mains of Glamis cottages are a late 19th-century building that incorporates earlier materials. This two-storey, three-bay farmhouse, now converted into cottages, features long single-storey wings arranged in a symmetrical layout. The structure is constructed from squared and snecked rubble with ashlar dressings.

The south elevation is nearly symmetrical, with two-storey bays at the center. The central bay has a window on each floor and is advanced with a gable. To the right, there is a bipartite window, and to the left, a single window at ground level, with additional windows above that break the eaves in gabled dormerheads. The single-storey bays on either side have a centrally located gabled door and bipartite windows in the flanking bays. There is a slightly advanced gabled bay with a window on the outer right and another advanced gable with a window on the outer left. The windows feature 4- and 8-pane glazing patterns in timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped ashlar stacks with cans and plain bargeboarding. The property is enclosed by low rubble boundary walls.
