Description
The Lion Statue at Glamis Castle dates from around 1770 and consists of carved stone ornaments that are detached from the formal gardens of the castle.
To the east, there is an urn on a square-section plinth and pedestal that features a cornice and a stepped base. This urn is intricately carved with human masks, fruit, and foliage.
To the southeast, another urn also sits on a square-section plinth and pedestal, but this one has a cavetto cornice and a stepped base. It is decorated with bellflower swags, ribbons, and paterae.
Additionally, there are two lions in a seated position located near the east and west towers of the castle, which are listed separately.
