Description
The Game Larder at Glamis Castle is a mid to late 19th-century structure, originally likely converted from a dovecot. It features a double chamber and a rectangular plan, constructed from bull-faced rubble with ashlar dressings. The building has stepped and moulded string courses, crowstepped flanks, and a dormer gablehead with moulded skewputts. The stone mullions and chamfered arrises add to its architectural detail.
On the northeast elevation, there are two windows beneath a moulded string course, leading to a small louvered bipartite opening below a dripstone in the dormer gablehead. The southwest elevation has a boarded timber door situated to the right of centre, with a window to the left and a small louvered bipartite opening above in the centre. The northwest elevation features a boarded timber section at ground level, topped with a stepped string course and alighting ledge. The southeast elevation includes a window at ground level, also with a stepped string course and alighting ledge above.
The timber windows are adorned with diamond-pattern glazing, and the roof is covered with grey slate.
