Description
Ardovie House is a prominent building featuring a main part that is two stories high with a basement, constructed from red ashlar stone. The front elevation has three windows and includes an architraved doorway topped with a pulvinated frieze. The center of the building is raised and features a pediment, an oeil de boeuf window, and terminal urns. The date "R.S. C.G. 17.59" is inscribed at the skews. To the north, there is a low two-story wing from the late 18th century, possibly dating to 1776, although the datestone is not in its original position. A corresponding wing on the south side was added in the early 19th century, creating an approximately symmetrical eastern courtyard.
