Description
The war memorial at Kirkton of Auchterhouse dates to around 1920. It is a columnar structure built from granite. The memorial features a corniced granite pedestal supporting a granite shaft. The shaft is decorated with polished Peterhead granite engaged angle comonettes and annuletted detail. Foliate sandstone capitals top the shaft, supporting a small, stylised Gothic birdcage shrine surmounted by a decorative cast-iron finial.
