Description
Saint Congan's Church in Turriff is the ruin of the eastern end of a long rectangular church, featuring medieval walls made of red rubble. A notable feature is the rich double bellcote from 1636, which has double pendant arches and an ogee top. Inside, there are several significant wall monuments, including one from 1580 and two from the 17th century. A short section at the eastern end is roofed. Additionally, there is a sculptured stone with ten heads, representing the Earl and Countess of Buchan among others, which has been inserted into the eastern gable. The church also houses a bell from 1556 and a clock from 1797 that was brought from Carnousie in 1828.
