Description
St Mary's Chapel, located in the Churchyard of the Parish Church in Chapel of Garioch, was opened on January 10, 1813. The building is originally rectangular and constructed from red granite rough ashlar with cherry cocking. It features a four-window south flank, with a door and a window above each gable, all adorned with original wood-traceried Gothick glazing. The west gable has a simple birdcage Gothick bellcote topped with a ball finial. A T-plan north chancel addition was designed by A. Marshall Mackenzie in 1923, which includes good furnishings from that period. There are small additions flanking the chancel, completed by McCombie of Inverurie in 1968. The chapel houses a bell from 1871.
