Description
Muiresk House is a building dating from around 1700, featuring a west wing that is two stories high with a dormerless attic. It has five windows and a central gablet with an arched attic window. The moulded skew ends and a central two-column Roman-Doric open portico with a wooden entablature were added around 1840. The northeast and southeast wings, which form a U-shape, were constructed in the mid-18th century.
The interior was completely remodeled around 1830 to 1840, but it retains a late 18th-century drawing-room on the first floor, which is now used as a bedroom, and the original staircase leading to the attic. A new staircase was added in the southeast wing, along with a low first-floor gallery corridor and other additions in the courtyard. The exterior is harled with margins, and there is a 17th-century armorial panel in the southeast wing, although it is likely not in its original position.
